Being a First Time Mom. (Memory)

Sitting in my room today and thinking about being a mother. My first born was an unexpected event for me in 1974. I was young and knew nothing about being a mother. My experiences throughout my pregnancy were very different verses the opportunities of today. There was no introduction to breastfeeding or assistance in caring for your baby. My mother was my teacher as much as she could be and taught me throughout that period of becoming a mother. Today new mothers have multiple of opportunities, mentors, professionals and more to assist them through their pregnancy. So, take advantage of resources provided by doctors, childbirth classes, doulas, etc. it could be very beneficial to YOU! Even thou the benefits were not available to for me to be aware of (my mother was). I did pretty good!
